Tater Tot Casserole

Tater tot casserole is easy, delicious and always a hit with the fam! You can make it for dinner or turn these into freezer meals. Tater tot casserole freezes wonderfully and bakes up beautiful. If you are empty nesters or live alone, this recipe can broken into 2 or 4 casseroles. I put them in small foil pans and freeze for quick meals.

Ingredients and Variations

Ingredients: Ground beef, onions, cream of mushroom soup, cheese whiz or Velveeta, tater tots, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper.

Variations: Ground beef can be replaced with ground turkey, chicken, venison, bison or any ground meat you have on hand. Yellow or white onions can be used or left out if desired. A can of cream of mushroom soup is used here but homemade cream sauce can be used or another cram soup of your choice. Any cheese you like can be used here and you decide your seasonings. Regular tater tots are using in tis recipe but you can surly use sweet potato tots instead.

Cheesy, delicious tater tot casserole!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef 80/20

  • 1 medium onion, chopped

  • 1 tsp fresh cracked black pepper

  • 2 tsp salt

  • 2 tsp garlic powder

  • 2 tsp onion powder

  • 1 tbsp mushroom powder plus (see recipe)

  • 1/2 – 3/4 15oz jar Cheese Whiz or 8 oz Velveeta cheese cubed or 2 cups or shredded cheddar

  • 1 32oz bag tater tots (you will not need them all)

  • 1 tsp french fry sprinkle (see recipe)

Directions

  • Heat oven to 350°.
  • Press raw beef into a 9 x 13 ungreased baking pan. Sprinkle with garlic powder, onion powder, mushroom powder plus, salt and pepper. Sprinkle onions over top. Spread mushroom soup over onions and dalop Cheese Whiz over soup or sprinkle grated cheese. Top with tater tots and sprinkle with french fry salt.
  • Bake at 350° for 1 hour or until tots are golden brown and cheese bubbles up between them!
  • Let cool 5 minutes before cutting and serve your vegetables along the side!
  • Freeze your casserole for up to 6 months!
