Creamy and delicious, my tomato gravy is sure to hit the spot! Great on biscuits, chicken fried steak, fried chicken, mashed potatoes, noodles…….
Ingredients
3 tbs Bacon fat, butter or lard
3 tbsp All purpose flour
1 1/2 cups Whole milk
1 pint Tomatoes, diced or crushed
1 tsp Powdered chicken bouillon
1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Onion powder
1/2 tsp Fresh cracked black pepper
Directions
- Make roux by cooking butter and flour together in a skillet on medium heat. Cook 3 minutes or until it starts to brown and smells “nutty”.
- Carefully whisk in milk and spices, cook until thick. Add tomatoes and simmer on low 10 minutes.
