Turkey Kiev

This easy Kiev is made with ground turkey and is the most delicious ground turkey recipe you will ever find!

Ingredients and Variations

Ingredients: Ground turkey (mixed light and dark meat), Dried onion, garlic olive oil, Kosher salt, pepper, cayenne, poultry seasoning, butter, fresh chives, cornstarch, egg, all purpose flour and bread crumbs.

Variations: All white meat or all dark ground turkey can be used, add the seasonings you like best, butter can be added to the turkey in place of olive oil. Cange up the butter flavor inside and use any compound butter you want. Cowboy butter would be great in this!

Ingredients

  • Turkey Mix
  • 1 lb ground turkey

  • 1 tbsp dried minced onion

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 1/2 tsp Kosher salt

  • 1/2 tsp pepper

  • 3/4 tsp poultry seasoning

  • a pinch cayenne * optional

  • 1 tbsp olive oil or softened butter

  • 1 tbsp dried parsley *optional

  • Compound butter
  • 6 tbsp butter, softened

  • 2 tsp cornstarch

  • 2 tbsp fresh chives, chopped or 1 tbsp dry

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/4 tsp pepper

  • 1/4 tsp onion powder

  • Coating
  • 3/4 cup A.P. flour

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 tbsp milk

  • 3/4 cup seasoned breadcrumbs ( I use panko)

Directions

  • First decide how many you are making with a pound of turkey 2 to 4, you will need to make that many butter bullets. Mix all ingredients for compound butter first, a day ahead if possible or the morning of, make into cylinder shapes and freeze in plastic wrap overnight or at least 3 hours.
  • Mix turkey and all ingredients together and separate into balls 2 to 4 place a frozen butter bullet in the middle of each and wrap meat tightly around and seal well, wrap in plastic and freeze for 2 hours.
  • Put flour in a bowl and season with a little salt and pepper. Put egg and milk in a separate bowl and whisk well (a few dashes of hot sauce can also be added if desired) and in a 3rd bowl add your seasoned breadcrumbs to set up your dredging station.
  • Put an inch or two of oil in your pan and heat it up to about 350°.
  • Heat oven to 375°.
  • Unwrap frozen turkey loaf and cost in flour well, then roll it in the egg wash and roll in breadcrumbs, coat well!
  • Put into the hot oil and sear on all sides until golden brown (2-3 minutes on each side). The put into a pan or sheet pan and bake at 375° for 30 to 40 minutes until fully cooked.
