Buttermilk Biscuits

My favorite biscuit recipe of all time, I make them weekly and have for my entire adult life!

Buttermilk Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 2 Cups 2 All purpose flour

  • 1 Tbsp 1 Baking Powder

  • 1/2 tsp 1/2 baking soda

  • 3/4 tsp 3/4 Salt

  • 5 Tbsp 5 Butter, lard or shortning, chilled

  • 1 Cup 1 Buttermilk

Directions

  • Heat oven to 425 degrees.
  • Mix dry ingredients together and cut butter in to the flour mixture until it resembles “crumble”.
  • Stir in buttermilk until just incorporated.
  • Dump dough out on to a lightly floured surface, pat into a square 3/4 ” thick. Use a knife and simply press through dough making 12 biscuits (or more if you like them smaller). Move to a pan lined with parchment paper, Brush tops with heavy cream.
  • Bake @ 425 degrees 10-12 minutes until tops start to turn golden brown.
