Iron Skillet Beef Cobbler

Ingredients

  • Beef Filling
  • 5 cups 5 Water

  • 1/2 cup 1/2 Thrive Life Espagnole (savory beef gravy) mix

  • 1 cup 1 Freeze dried beef cubes

  • 1/8 cup 1/8 Dehydrated carrots

  • 1/8 cup 1/8 Freeze dried chopped onion

  • 1/4 cup 1/4 Freeze dried celery

  • 1/2 cup 1/2 Freeze dried potato dices

  • 1/2 cup 1/2 Freeze dried mushroom slices

  • 1/4 cup 1/4 Freeze dried peas

  • 1/2 tsp 1/2 Salt

  • 1/2 tsp 1/2 Pepper

  • 1 tsp 1 dried parsley

  • 1 tsp 1 Onion powder

  • Cobbler Topping
  • 1 1/2 cups 1 1/2 All purpose flour

  • 3/4 tsp 3/4 Salt

  • 1/2 tsp 1/2 Baking soda

  • 2 tsp 2 Baking powder

  • 1/4 cup 1/4 Butter, cold and cubed

  • 3/4 cup 3/4 Whole milk

Directions

  • Heat oven to 350°
  • In an iron skillet or oven safe skillet add all ingredients and bring to a boil. Turn the heat down and simmer 5 minutes. Remove from heat.
  • Make cobbler topping: In a bowl whisk together flour, salt, parsley, baking soda and baking powder. Cut in butter until coarse crumbles. Carefully stir in milk making sure not to over mix!
  • Drop by spoonfuls in top of filling.
  • Bake @ 350° 25 – 30 minutes.
