Homemade Shake and Bake

This Homemade Shake and Bake is delicious, cost effective and completely versatile, season it with your favorite seasonings and make it your own.

Ingredients and Variations

Ingredients: Sourdough breadcrumbs, cornstarch, citric acid, Kosher salt, paprika, black pepper, onion powder, garlic powder and ground thyme.

Variations: Use any breadcrumbs you prefer, add shelf stable cheese if desired, add any herbs of your choice, add some cayenne for a kick or some taco seasoning for a more southwest flavor. Season it however you desire.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup breadcrumbs

  • 1/4 cup cornstarch

  • 1 tsp citric acid

  • 1 1/2 tsp paprika

  • 1/2 tsp Kosher or sea salt

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/4 tsp ground thyme

Directions

  • Mix well and store in an airtight container for up to 1 year.
  • To Use: dip chicken or pork chop in a beaten egg, then dip into crumb mixture. Bake at 375° for 25 minutes or until golden and meat it cooked through.
