Mock Mornay Sauce

3 tbsp Butter
3 tbsp Flour
3 cups Chicken broth, milk or water
1/2 tsp Chicken bouillon powder
1/4 tsp Fresh grated nutmeg
1/4 tsp Fresh cracked black pepper
1 1/2 cups Grated parmesan cheese
1/2 cup Heavy cream
Directions
- In a heavy bottom pan on medium heat, melt butter and stir in flour making a roux, cook 3 minutes.
- Add broth, bouillon, nutmeg, pepper and cook until thickened.
- Add cheese and cook 2 – 3 minutes stirring constantly until cheese is melted through.
- Add heavy cream and cook 2 minutes longer.
- Remove from heat and serve immediately.
