Mock Mornay Sauce

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp Butter

  • 3 tbsp Flour

  • 3 cups Chicken broth, milk or water

  • 1/2 tsp Chicken bouillon powder

  • 1/4 tsp Fresh grated nutmeg

  • 1/4 tsp Fresh cracked black pepper

  • 1 1/2 cups Grated parmesan cheese

  • 1/2 cup Heavy cream

Directions

  • In a heavy bottom pan on medium heat, melt butter and stir in flour making a roux, cook 3 minutes.
  • Add broth, bouillon, nutmeg, pepper and cook until thickened.
  • Add cheese and cook 2 – 3 minutes stirring constantly until cheese is melted through.
  • Add heavy cream and cook 2 minutes longer.
  • Remove from heat and serve immediately.
