Mom’s Swedish Meatballs

These are the best meatballs and always remind me of my childhood! This is my mom’s recipe and is the recipe she is known for in the family, she is undoubtedly always asked to bring them to every get together! These festive meatballs will be a great addition to your holiday party menu!

Sauce

1 (14 o)z Can jellied cranberry sauce

1 Bottle chili sauce (I use Heinz)

1/4 to 1/2 Cup dark brown sugar (make it as sweet as you like it!)

Pinch of salt

Put it all in a pan and cook on medium low heat until sugar is dissolved and mixture is smooth.

Turn off heat and let cool while making the meatballs.

Meatballs

2 lbs Ground beef 80/20

1 Cup crushed cornflakes

2 Large eggs, beaten

2 Tbsp soy sauce

1/4 Tsp ground black pepper

1/2 Tsp salt

1/2 Tsp garlic powder

1/3 Cup ketchup

2 Tbsp minced onion, dried

Heat oven to 350 degrees f.

Mix all meatball ingredients together and roll into walnut sized meatballs. Put them directly into a large baking dish.

Pour cooled sauce over the top and bake @ 350 for 30 minutes uncovered.

*you can make these ahead, up to ready to bake and freeze them raw, bake from frozen state 1 hr covered with foil and 15 minutes uncovered on 350 f.

*You can also make these meatballs smaller for a cocktail sized appetizer.

**Warning** Do NOT cook these in a Crockpot! They will completely fall apart! Ask me how I know this!! lol!
