Pie Crust

This Pie crust is amazing! My mom’s recipe and a must use for all things pie crust related!

This recipe will make a double crust!

Ingredients

  • 2 Cups All purpose flour

  • 1/2 tsp Salt

  • 1 Tbsp Sugar

  • 3/4 Cup Lard, butter or shortning (leaf lard is best)

  • 1 Large Egg, beaten

  • 1 tsp Vinegar

  • 3 – 4 Tbsp Cold water

Directions

  • Mix dry ingredients, cut in fat until pea sized crumbles. Add egg, vinegar and water one tablespoon at a time until dough just comes together. Use more water if you need to.
  • Form into two discs, wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate 30 minutes.
  • Roll dough out, place in pie plate, dock with a fork, bake according to your pie recipe directions or 450 degrees for 10 minutes, then 350 degrees until pie is set 35 – 45 minutes.

Notes

  • Make these ahead and freeze them by wraping in plastic and placing in a ziplock freezer bag!
