Sausage and Lentil Soup Mix

This Sausage and Lentil Soup Mix is not instant, it is super delicious and will make your house smell amazing while you simmer it, well worth the 20 minute simmer!

Ingredients and Variations

Ingredients: brown lentils, freeze dried sausage, dried onions, dried carrots, freeze dried red bell peppers, dried spinach, onion powder, garlic powder, celery powder, ground thyme, tomato powder, chicken bouillon powder, kosher salt and pepper.

Variations: Use the lentils of your choice, add in any extra veg you like and the seasonings of your choice. Adding freeze dried butternut squash and curry powder would be delicious or season with Italian seasoning, Add some dried hot peppers for a kick if desired. Kale can be added in place of spinach if desired.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup freeze dried sausage

  • 1/2 cup dried onion

  • 1/2 cup dried carrots

  • 1/2 cup freeze dried red bell peppers

  • 1/2 cup freeze dried celery or 2 tsp celery powder

  • 1/4 cup tomato powder

  • 1 tbsp garlic powder

  • 1 tbsp onion powder

  • 1/4 tsp ground thyme

  • 1 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp pepper

  • 2 tsp powdered chicken bouillon

  • 1/2 cup dried spinach or kale

  • 1/2 tsp cayenne * optional

Directions

  • Mill all together well. store in an airtight jar for up to a year.
  • To Use: Add 1/4 cup of mix to 1 1/2 cups of boiling water, lower heat and simmer for 20 minutes until lentils are fully cooked.
