Along with the fact that this dish is pure comfort food, it’s quick, easy, delicious and straight out of my panty! I use my home canned chicken and my budget friendly homemade buttermilk biscuits!
Yields 9 x 13 pan
1 Pint chicken (home canned or 16 oz store bought)
1 Recipe buttermilk biscuits https://jenigough.com/?p=478 frozen or canned
Chicken Gravy
32 oz Chicken broth, stock or water (home canned or store bought)
1 1/2 Tbsp powdered chicken bullion if using water
1 Tsp onion powder
1/2 Tsp garlic powder
1/4 Tsp poultry seasoning
2 Tsp dried parsley
Salt & pepper to taste
1 Tbsp butter or chicken fat
1/4 Cup haevy cream
Cornstarch or modified cornstarch to thicken as per package directions.
Heat oven to 425 degrees f.
Mix everything together except the cream and cornstarch. Bring to a boil and make a slurry if using cornstarch, ultra gel, clear-jel or therm-flo. Thicken to desired consistancy. Add cream in last. Turn off heat and set aside.
In 9 x 13 baking dish put chicken layer down and pour gravy over top. Add biscuits on top and bake in a 425 degree oven 15 minutes or until tops of biscuits are golden brown nd gravy is bubbly!
Serve with a side of veg or mashed potatoes!
