Make your own delicious, crunchy, fried fish tacos at home! So easy and so good!

- Beer Batter
2 cups All purpose flour
1/3 cup Cornstarch
1 tbsp Baking powder
2 tsp Seasoned salt
1/2 tsp Garlic powder
1 tsp Paprika
18 oz Light beer, about one & a half bottles
- Tacos
Corn tortillas (I prefer white corn)
4 lbs White fish (I use cod) cut into 4 inch strips and patted dry
Oil to fry fish in (I use corn oil)
- Topping Suggestions
Cheese cotija, fresco, jack, cheddar, pepper jack…….
Shredded cabbage
Sliced radishes
Diced onion with cilantro
Picked red onion (my fav)
Hot sauce, salsa, roja, verde……
Crema, sour cream, cilantro lime sauce, ranch….
Limes, quartered
Diced avocado
Pico de gallo
Diced Tomatoes
Pickled or fresh jalapenos or other hot peppers
- Cilantro Lime Sauce
1/2 cup Crema
1 Lime, juiced
2 Limes, zested
1 tbsp Chopped cilantro, packed
Salt & pepper
Directions
- Batter
- Whisk everything together and set aside.
- Fish
- Heat oil to 375° in heavy pan, iron skillet or deep fryer.
- Cut fish into 4 inch strips and pat dry with paper towels.
- Dip fish into batter, shaking of extra and fry until golden brown on both sides, maintaining heat at 375°. Cooking 2- 3 minutes on each side. Transfer cooked fish to a cooling rack lined sheet pan, to cool.
- Cilantro Lime Sauce
- Whisk it all together!
- Build Your Taco!
- Heat up corn tortillas over flame or on hot pan, just until pliable. Stack two tortillas together, add fish and desired toppings! *You will need two tortillas together to be durable enough for a fish taco!!
