German Style Red Cabbage With Apples

Cabbage is second only to the potato in my book! I love cabbage any way you make it and this is at the top of my list!

2 Tbsp bacon fat

1 Medium head red cabbage, sliced 1/4 inch thick

2 Apples, peeled and sliced

1 Sweet onion, sliced

1/2 Cup apple cider vinegar

2 Cups apple cider or juice

1/2 Tsp ground clove

1 1/2 Tsp sea salt

1 Bay leaf

2 Tbsp white sugar

1/4 Cup brown sugar

1/4 Tsp white pepper

Everybody in the pot! Cook on a medium low heat for 1 hr, stirring occasionally. Remove bay leaf and serve!
