Old Fashioned Molasses Cookies

3/4 cup Unsalted butter, softened
1 cup Dark brown sugar
1 Large egg, room temp
1/4 cup Molasses
1/4 tsp Salt
1 tsp Ground ginger
1 tsp Ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp Ground cloves
2 tsp Baking soda
2 1/4 cups All purpose flour
Granulated sugar for coating
Directions
- Cream together butter and sugar. Add egg and molasses. Add flour, baking soda, salt and spices. Mix until incorporated.
- Chill dough 30 minutes.
- Heat oven to 375°
- Form dough into 1 1/2 inch balls, roll in granulated sugar and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment leaving 2 inches in between. Sprinkle each with a few drops of water.
- Bake @ 375° for 10 to 12 minutes. 10 minutes for chewy cookies and 12 minutes for crispy cookies.

Notes
- Cookies can be formed and frozen on tray, then transferred to freezer bag and stored in freezer for up to 3 months. Great make ahead for holidays!
