Old Fashioned Soda (Saltine) Crackers

It is easy to make your very own, old fashioned soda crackers from scratch. These soda crackers take no time at all to make and bake up quick.

Ingredients and Variations

Flour: This recipe uses nothing more than easy to find, regular old all purpose flour. You can also sub in a half cup of whole wheat flour (remove a half cup of all purpose flour) to make wheat soda crackers.

Fat: This recipe uses butter. Salted or unsalted, your choice.

Liquid: Buttermilk is best but if you don’t have it use whole milk with a teaspoon of lemon juice or apple cider vinegar. Powdered milk and evaporated milk work too. If you have no milk, water can also be used.

  1. Hi Jeni,
Can these be vacuum sealed in a jar?. Thanks

    • Yes, just keep in mind they have no preservatives so they won’t last as long as store bought.
