Budget Burgers

With food prices on the rise, we really need to stretch our groceries and what better way than these budget burgers! Meaty, filling and delicious! These can be flavored any way you like, fried, grilled, baked or even air fried. Add some cheese or peppers to the middle, bbq sauce when grilling and have a Texas style burger. So many possibilities!

Ingredients and Variations

Ingredients: Ground beef (chuck) 80/20 or higher, rolled oats (not quick or instant), onion soup mix, egg, half and half and Worcestershire sauce. Very simple.

Variations: Any ground meat can be substituted for the beef or even a mixture. Oatmeal is used here because it is hearty and filling but bread crumbs, bread or crackers could be used in place. Soup mix and Worcestershire sauce can be changed out for whatever seasonings you like. Milk can be changed to water or broth to be dairy free.

Add in Ranch seasoning instead of onion soup mix for Ranch burgers. Use mushroom soup mix instead of onion for mushroom burgers. A packet of meatloaf seasoning mix for meatloaf style burgers. Add your own spin!

Directions

  • Mix it all together adding a little more milk if needed. Form 4 patties.
