Holiday Cottage Pie

This Holiday Cottage Pie is as festive as it is delicious! Perfect for Thanksgiving and Christmas both, make it to serve a few or a bunch! This pie freezes very well if you would like to make it ahead or gift one! Budget friendly and delicious!

Ingredients and Variations

Ingredients: Ground turkey, onions, butter, flour, dried cranberries, ground cinnamon, onion, powder, garlic powder, Dijon mustard, salt and pepper. mashed sweet potatoes.

Variations: ground sausage can be added in with the turkey, fresh, frozen cranberries can be used or your own cranberry sauce. Ingredients

  • 3 cups 3 prepared sweet potatoes, mashed

  • 1 1 small onion, chopped

  • 1 lb 1 ground turkey

  • 4 tbsp 4 butter, divided

  • 2 tbsp 2 all purpose flour

  • 2 cups 2 turkey or chicken broth

  • 1 tsp 1 Dijon mustard

  • 1 tbsp 1 Amino acids (Braggs)

  • 2 tsp 2 onion powder

  • 1/2 tsp 1/2 garlic powder

  • 1/2 tsp 1/2 ground cinnamon

  • 1/2 tsp 1/2 salt

  • 1/2 tsp 1/2 fresh ground black pepper

  • 1/2 cup 1/2 dried cranberries

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350° and use a 10-12 iron skillet.
  • cook turkey and onions in 2 tbsp butter, when cooked, add 2 more tbsp butter and 2 tbsp flour, cook for 3 minutes.
  • Whisk in broth, seasonings, mustard and cranberries. Cook until thickened.
  • Make and whip sweet potatoes. Spread over turkey mixture and sprinkle topping over if using it.
  • Bake at 350° for 45 minutes until top starts to brown.

Notes

  • If you are cooking for a larger crowd, use a 9 x 13 baking pan and double this recipe!
