Thanksgiving Cottage Pie

A budget friendly option to feed few or a crowd! This Thanksgiving Cottage Pie has all the traditional flavors of Thanksgiving!

Ingredients and Variations

Ingredients: Ground turkey, onions, butter, flour, chicken broth, mashed potatoes, stuffing, poultry seasoning, sage, onion powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper.

Variations: Vegetables can be added in with the turkey such as green beans, carrots, corn, squash, you can change up the seasonings any way you like, used fresh herbs of your choice! Add shredded cheese to the top of the casserole if you like! bulk it up by adding in some sausage with the turkey!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb 1 ground turkey

  • 1 1 small onion

  • 4 tbsp 4 butter

  • 3 cups 3 prepared dressing (such as Stove Top or use your fav)

  • 4 cup 4 mashed potatoes, prepared (fresh, canned or instant)

  • 2 tbsp 2 all purpose flour

  • 2 cups 2 turkey or chicken broth

  • 1/2 tsp 1/2 rubbed sage

  • 1/2 tsp 1/2 poultry seasoning

  • 1 tsp 1 salt

  • 1/2 tsp 1/2 fresh ground black pepper

  • 1 tbsp 1 Dijon mustard, prepared

  • 1 tbsp 1 onion powder

  • 1/2 tsp 1/2 garlic powder

Directions

  • cook ground turkey and onion in 2 tbsp of butter, when cooked, add 2 more tbsp butter with the flour and cook for 3 minutes.
  • Whisk in turkey broth, mustard and seasonings. Cook until thickened.
  • Spread dressing evenly over turkey/gravy mixture then spread mashed potatoes over dressing evenly. Sprinkle with small pats of butter or shredded cheese if desired.
  • Bake at 350° for 45 minutes, until top turn s golden.
