Asian Style Freezer Roux

Ingredients

  • 1/3 lb 1/3 Salted butter, softened

  • 2/3 cup 2/3 All purpose flour

  • 2 tsp 2 Sesame oil

  • 2 tsp 2 Ground ginger

  • 2 tsp 2 Garlic powder

  • 2 tsp 2 Onion power

  • 1/2 tsp 1/2 Salt

  • 1/2 tsp 1/2 Fresh ground black pepper

  • 2 tbsp 2 Dried green onion

Directions

  • Whisk it all together until well incorporated.
  • Prepare a sheet pan with parchment paper. Drop by tablespoon measurements onto sheet pan. Freeze for 1 hour. Put into a labeled freezer bag and store in freezer up to 6 months.
  • To use: Add 1 roux to 1/4 cup broth or milk. Bring to a boil and cook until thick. Add in veg or meat. Can add cheese or a couple tablespoons of heavy cream.
