Easy Cheese Souffle

Elevate your Eater/Spring Brunch with this Quick and Easy Cheese Souffle, it is as delicious as it is easy!!

Ingredients and Variations

Ingredients: white bread slices, eggs, whole milk, extra sharp cheddar cheese, Monterey jack cheese, butter, Dijon mustard, onion powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper.

Variations: Use any bread you prefer, Use the cheese of your choice, bacon bits, fresh herbs, and/or jalapenos can be added to change up the flavor.

Ingredients

  • 4 large eggs

  • 2 cups milk

  • 6 slices bread

  • 1/2 tsp onion powder

  • 1/4 tsp pepper

  • 1/2 tsp Kosher salt

  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper * optional

  • 3 dashes hot sauce *optional

  • 1 lb cheese, grated

Directions

  • Heat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Butter a 9 x 9 baking dish.
  • Whisk together eggs, milk and seasonings, set aside.
  • Grate cheese.
  • Butter 2 bread slices on 1 side, put buttered side down in buttered baking dish, spread mustard on the other side of each bread slice, sprinkle with 1/3 of the cheese and repeat with the next 2 layers of bread and cheese. When you have used all the bread and cheese, pour egg mixture over top and let sit for 10-15 minutes to soak into bread.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 25 – 30 minutes. Cool for 10 before digging in!
